The Show

The Pier at Caesars, Atlantic
City
Gordon Group
Holdings, LLC, developers of the Forum Shops in Las Vegas,
commissioned Thinkwell to create a first-of-its-kind immersive
indoor water and media spectacular for their newest retail
destination, The Pier at Caesars in Atlantic City.
Thinkwell was
tasked with creating a spectacle that would guarantee steady patron
traffic flow to the end of the pier — a literal cul-de-sac. This was
no easy feat, but Thinkwell rose to the challenge, exceeding client
expectations and breaking new ground in fountain technology along
the way.
The end result,
dubbed The Show, is an immersive, 360-degree multi-sensory
experience. A hybrid of stunning water effects, state-of-the-art
lighting & sound, and ground-breaking interactive technology
includes a computerized matrix of 149 independently controlled
fountain nozzles.
The First of
its Kind in the World
To enhance visitor
satisfaction between shows, Thinkwell created something engaging,
playful and totally unique that encourages guest interaction — an
operator-free interactive fountain. The fountain features the
following inherently “gettable” and “discoverable” interactive
games:
• Follow Me
— The fountain plumes identify up to five individuals and follow
them around the pool. Lots of fun, especially for spectators as they
watch the fountain come to life, selecting passersby “following”
them in an effort to engage them in play.
• Paint the
Fountain — When guests step into a spot of colored light on the
floor, the fountain changes to that color and shoots into the air.
The more people clustered in the colored light, the taller the
fountain plumes. When all the colored light zones reach their
maximum, a quick show payoff is performed.
• The Gong Show
— The fountain plumes pop up and start spinning around the edge
of the pool as a light beam circles around the crowd surrounding the
pool. When the light and fountain stops and shoots up in front of a
visitor selected by the fountain, the fountain commands the visitor
to dance. If they do, the fountain will reward them with a
mini-show. If not, they are given a buzzer sound and the fountain
moves on to select someone else.
Guests often
get so involved in game play that friendly spontaneous competitions
occur between guests of all ages (needless to say, children
absolutely love this fountain).
